In November of 2012, City Council began discussing possible ordinance changes pertaining to Rooming Houses and Zoning.  The V.M. Ybor Board voted in 2012 to support and strongly encourage the proposed City Staff revisions:

· Addition of a clear reference to standards in Sec. 19-235 rooming houses (plumbing requirements) in 27-282.24.

· Reduce the maximum number of lodging units from 9 to 6 per rooming house.

· Limit occupant number to 2 adults per lodging unit, with a minimum square footage of 150 square feet per lodging unit.

· Require a 500’ separation between like uses.

V.M. Ybor Neighborhood Association strongly encourages these changes to be made in order to address significant quality of life, health, safety and welfare issues in Tampa communities.

UPDATE: Council passed both the first and second readings of the proposed rooming house code changes, finalizing revisions on 06/07/2013.
